GBTA|Greater DC Metro 2022 Year in Review!

President's Report
Greetings GBTA|Greater DC Metro members and community!
As the year comes to a close, I find myself thinking about all that we accomplished - it was an amazing year!
- We started the year off by finishing the steps of merging BWBTA and NVBTA into the Greater DC Metro - announced April 2022
- Our first joint in person meeting A Buyers Panel was held in June at the DoubleTree by Hilton - Enterprise moderated this panel with buyers from Red Cross, Meta, T Rowe Price and ICF
- We continued our Webinar Bytes discussions with Global Guardian, DEI 101 with Ciera Parks, DEI - A Black Man's Perspective with TAMS finishing with PJS
- Keeping with tradition, we held our Golf Tournament in July at the lovely Lansdowne Country Club
- Then our Crab Feast in September - a smashing hit with the largest turnout ever!
- Education Day - October 27 - a busy day - Panel discussion on NDC moderated by Jay Campbell and a panel of representatives from SW, Amadeus, SAP Concur and Serko, industry economic update by GBTA, Real ID card update by TSA, Hilton, UA and Enterprise finished the education portion of the day with a discussion on Sustainability --- our day really ended with networking in the Hilton Garden Inn Crystal City Lounge
- And ended just a couple of weeks ago with our Holiday Party at beautiful United's IAD Polaris Club where our silent auction enabled us to raise over $5000!!
None of this could have been accomplished without a Board (Sarah Mandell, Candee Harris, Tonia Jacobson, Kathleen Summerfield, Dawn Spriggs Hall, Angela Swoveland, Erin Sterling, Kenzey Minnich, Georgette Lake, Maria Cotto, Carol Schrager, Denise Lane and Carmen Smith) that was committed to helping our new combined chapter embrace business after a merger and covid - it kept us on our toes!!!
As we merged our Boards together Tonia worked her magic with sponsorships. And, we all know we couldn't do any of these events without our sponsors. Not only do they show financial support, but their participation also shows their support of the ideas and strategies of GBTA|Greater DC Metro.
A big note of recognition for our sponsors:

Our President, David Thorne, Travel Manager with T. Rowe Price, stepped aside as he moved his career outside of travel. As the Vice President, I tried to fill his shoes for the remainder of this year. I'm pleased to share that Carmen Smith, Senior Manager - Travel and Events with ICF has accepted the role of President - completing Davids's term through the end of 2023! I'll move back into that VP position and support Carmen as we continue to move GBTA| Greater DC Metro into 2023 with new ideas and great enthusiasm.
Membership continues to grow as so many are able to return to work and find value in our educational programs and networking opportunities! Thank you to all who participated with us this year - we enjoyed your company! If you have thoughts or ideas or want to participate on a committee - please let us know!! You can expect more in person events in 2023 - more ways to learn, share experiences and make connections! We look forward to seeing you in the new year!
Cheers .....dt
